In South Africa there are over 8000 species of alien plants among over 25 000 species of local flora. 381 species of aliens were declared invasive and taken under supervision, control and eradication by the Working for Water Programme - WFW, an inter-departmental program under DWAF umbrella [ www.invasive.species.sanbi.org ]. We try to build a real bridge between the Academia and Economy for control of Alien Weeds and Invasive Plants through modern technologies.
